Summary

Trademark dilution has been consistently left aside from the essential studies in Latin America. While trademark attorneys and owners know a lot about the likelihood of confusion, the state-of-the-art in trademark dilution in Latin America remains unexplored in depth. Common perspectives from practitioners are still mostly theoretical.

In this webinar, we will learn - from a former in-house counsel for the Colombian National Growers Federation, former Head of the Colombian Trademark Office, and a currently serving Latin America delegate for INTA - a practical approach to trademark dilution. We will also review the economic impact of dilution by words of one of the few PhDs that have studied the phenomenon in-depth. Both panelists will be moderated by a member of AIPF, which combines professor and litigator practices concerning IP and Competition law.

SPEAKERS

  • Jose Luis Londono, INTA Latin America, Former In-house Counsel for National Growers Federation and Head of the Colombian Trademark Office
  • Washington Macias, Writer of a Variety of the Most Cited Papers on the Economic Impact of Trademark Dilution
  • Moderator Juan Felipe Acosta, Partner and Director for Litigation and ADR at OlarteMoure, Member of AIPF and INTA

This webinar is co-hosted by INTA.
