    Summary

    Innofy was founded with a view to creating a sustainable IP practice that could whether the storm of doing business in the 21st Century. Dr. Andrew Clarke and Dr. Katherine Rock will describe the transition from working in one of Australia’s premier traditional firms – to operating in an agile way that makes sense in today’s environment. Some take home messages and food for thought will be provided as to how to build an IP Practice that can create a competitive advantage though making use of more effective and efficient business practices and processes.

    Biography

    Katherine Clarke is a registered Trans-Tasman Patent and Trade Marks attorney (Australia and New Zealand), who specialises in a range of engineering disciplines. Her experience covers all aspects of patent practice, including searching, drafting, prosecution, and the provision of validity and infringement advice.

    Prior to commencing a career as a Patent Attorney, Katherine completed her PhD at the University of Oxford, UK, specialising in medical image processing. She also has a MBA from the University of Cambridge, UK.

    Andrew Rock is a registered Trans-Tasman Patent and Trade Marks attorney (Australia and New Zealand), who specialises in a range of biotechnology disciplines. Andrew completed his PhD in immunology at Monash University, and his research was published in several high-impact publications including Nature and Immunity.

    Andrew currently sits on the Biotechnology Standing Committee of AIPPI, as well as being on the AusBiotech IP Expert Panel. He is also the Queensland district chair of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.
